On the one hand, I didn’t write anything on Sunday or Monday. On the other, I did get something written on Friday and Saturday. Which is actually saying something, since I was staying with a friend Friday through Sunday. Thursday I gave myself off, since it was my birthday. Sunday and Monday are mostly explained by staying up Saturday night to watch fireworks. And watch Clue.

Writing on Friday and Saturday was easier because my friend writes also. Not that I got a whole lot done, but still. Getting even a couple hundred words counts as something. We got to read each other’s work for the first time, which was great. We were both genuinely enthusiastic about what we read. Yes, we were probably predisposed to like it, but still.

I’ve been going to work an hour earlier now that The Kid is out of school. It’s nice to get off an hour earlier, but it’s not helping my writing. I just don’t have time in the morning to do more than about 450 words, and so far I haven’t managed to do much in the evening. I’m too brain-dead after a day at work. I’m not happy with 500 words a day, so I think I’ll have to come up with some drastic measures to get myself up earlier. For me they have to be pretty darn drastic. Early to bed and early to rise is not my natural inclination.
